Education and mental health

Many students face anxiety around school, and it's understandable. The pressure to get good grades and pass classes can overwhelm many people, leading to burnout. But what can you do to prevent burnout and even make the anxiety around education manageable? There are many different approaches to making anxiety easier to handle, and it all comes down to what works for you.

Missing assignments

One major reason many people get nervous is feeling like they've missed assignments and a constant need to check their schoolwork to make sure it's submitted. One way to combat this constant need to check submissions is extremely simple: write it down. Using the notes app on your phone, or even a whiteboard, to have an easy-access reminder that you, in fact, did submit the assignment on time. It may seem too simple, but even simple solutions can make a big difference.

Studying too much

Another issue many people face is making time for school and their personal life, and it can be an extremely difficult task with school lasting hours on end and homework piling up. It's hard to find time for yourself. Lots of people will study for hours on end for big tests or just try to understand confusing material. But many people don't know that studying too much or spending too much time trying to understand something can make retaining that information more difficult. Trying to recall hours of information at once, or during a test, is nearly impossible. So instead of cramming or taking five hours to study, breaking up the information and studying an hour per night can not only make it easier to remember the information but also leave you with more time for yourself. You don't even need to be strict with the schedule; break it down by the hour and take frequent breaks to make sure you don't overdo it. It's important to remember that you aren't a robot, and taking time for rest is important to succeed.

Reaching out for help

It can feel shameful to ask for help, being vulnerable, and admitting you are struggling isn't easy. But most schools have many resources available for help, whether it's tutors or just someone to check over a paper. And for many of these, you can reach out via email and even set up an online meeting instead of meeting in person, which can be extremely convenient for those with a busy schedule. Even if you cannot get a tutor, there are available online resources that can make learning easier. YouTube has lots of free videos on all subjects, and many students use it to succeed in their studies.
